ANZAC Youth and Vetran day was a sucess with 3 grades of ministocks ranging in abbility.
The learners grade had many 1st time drivers enjoying the time on the track and getting to experience racing with the rain. 49M Caleb Hyde had a very good day with 2 out of 3 wins. Unfotunetly a DNF saw him 2nd overall for the day with Logan Berg taking 1st and Tegan Reid of 9M claiming 3rd.
The 2 experienced grades of ministocks had to rounds to determine the top four from each group which would compete in a one of final for the title. 47R Kegan Orr rolled with the help of no one else only have the red flag put out to continue on racing.
The final saw Catlin Haywood 4M lead for most of the race only to end up in the bank with Alister Clark 22m, which unfortunetley saw the ambulance at the track to check the driver over. With the two leading cars out of the race it left Zara Clifton 11R in the lead followed closley by Kegan Orr 47R. As the green flag dropped the white flag came out with it to make it a sprint race for the final lap with 11R finishing ahead of 47R to take the win and the title of Stars of Tommorow ministocks 2008. 47R came in 2nd with Ashton Fleming 68R finishing in 3rd.
The Non Qualifiers raced hard with Sam Pearson 81R and
75A Scott Tennant battle it out for 1st. changing positions many times in the end it was 81R who took the win although with the infield staff keeping a close on things 75A was Relegated to fourth allowing 17M Daniel MacDonald finishing 2nd followed by 62R Todd Kelly.
As well as ministocks we had historic stockcars racing showing how it used to be done. we also had the vintage midgets adding to the show.
the minisprints continue to show with 64r and 8r out with a sprintacar which managed to roll in the 3rd round to make the day more spectacular.
the 1/4 midgets continued to show the talent of young drivers.
thank you to all who came and supported this day and to all the crew that helped out in the infield and witht he organisation.
If you would like to share your memory of the day please add to the comment board and it will be posted to this page.

race meeting 3/02/08 was an awsome race meeting. we were host to the CTRA north island adult ministock champs, althogh the feild was not large their was still competitive racing, with the micheal wells taking out the title in 72m. the youth ministocks decided saw many new registrations to the club giving them a feild of 12 cars for the day many traveling from rotorua. with rotorua cars taking out the win in all three races, despite in race 2 having 3 restarts. the C saloons were not without their entertainment with 2 visiting youth from whangerai proving great competion for the regulars. unfortunately their was an accident coming out of turn 2 which saw #39rv and #6w in the bank in the second round. however, they were determined to show that they came to win and that was exactly what jarrod in #20w did winning with a convincing half lap lead on 2nd place getter. there was a rollover in the second round for the opens ( think that was correct grade) with car ending upside down. nevertheless was fortunate enough to escape with only a few dents to the car. 1/4 midgets were out to race as they had their memorial trophy up for grabs and with doing so provided fast racing. we also had 3 minisprints out on the track which showed just how fast speedway really is.
